Couple questions about GM performance parts? my buddy had a saturn ion and i beleive it was a supercharged 4 cylinder? i could be wrong, but i beleive so. it was wicked fast. faster than my buddies hemi charger. so i have a 2007 v6 3.5 dodge charger.. and i was wondering a couple things. 1 could i get the performance parts on my car?? 2 where would i get it done at? 3 how much would it cost (rough estimates are completely fine, labor included) 4 how much of an upgrade would i see?? the ion only had that done to his car and was wicked fast. if you can even answer one of the questions, you will be very helpful! thanks ahead of time!
How much do the GM Perf. Parts cold air intake, and cat-back exhaust, help a 2.2L 07 Cobalt? My brother bought my car and wants some more oomph out of it. I never bought it for speed, in fact i turned down getting an SS because i felt it was lame to try making a compact into a sports car. The inverse would be the camaro my dad bought, with a 3.4L buick engine, that i will never forgive him for getting. Basically for me, it's either just a humble economy car, or a full fledged muscle car, and should be a good gap between the two. Okay, now that my side of the story is out of the way... He's putting the GM Performance Parts cold air intake kit, and the Performance cat-back exhaust on it. It is an LT, 2.2L n/a engine, something like 156hp originally. I figure the exhaust should do the most good, to allow for a few more horse at the higher rpm's. We have interstate criss-crossing town, so having something that can merge, and do 0-70 real fast is nice to have. What gains will this have? K&N says their cold air intake gives it 20hp but i doubt it would be that much.

is their any performance parts for a 6.2 gm disel engine? the engine is in a 1991 p 30 panel van, on the air cleaner it says it is 165hp. The engine is pretty good on speed to be in a 8,000 pound truck it will hold a steady 75 to 80mph, but the torq is crazy we pulled a house of its founddation with it and we put 10.00 pounds of bag dirt and it hauled it no problem the engine is pretty strong the way it is, but i was wondering if i could make it any stronger. With a turbo
What performance options are there for a GM 3100-series II engine? I have a N-platform (N-body) car with the GM 3100-series powerplant. I know this platform was used for multiple cars and I have checked out those cars, but to no avail. I can't seem to find any performance parts for this platform, and I was wondering if anyone knows of somewhere that might have something for this? Or if there are any tips or tricks for tuning you can give me for this particular platform? I regularly autocross with a car built on this and I have worked out a few modifications to make it run a little faster, but I need more. Anything pertaining to the engine, drivetrain, transaxle, on-board electronics, suspension, and braking system would be good. Thanks.

What can I do to make my 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS6 SS454 boost to around 2500 HP? What add-ons can I do to m I am a muscle, tuner, and exotic car guy, mostly muscle. My car will be filmed in my upcoming auto/action thriller and would like to hear from the public on how to blast them off their theater seats all the way to China. I do not wish to have some cheap parts on this car so name the best of the best parts that even the muscle car gods can't get their hands on. We are equipping it with a ZZ572/720R from GM Performance Parts and would like to know what to do to that engine to make it around 2500 HP. Note to iamacarguyru: you need to know your cars before answering questions like these Note to whomever thinks throwing 2500 HP in a Chevelle is impossible: The LSX engine from GMPP has performance for up to 2500 and I need to know what parts for that engine or the ZZ could be used.
What performance parts to put on a chevy small block? I bought a 2006 Pontiac GTO with the ls2 Chevy small block V8 with 400hp. I have had the car for about a month and the car is fast no doubt but could be faster. The headers on it are good, but meant to power the conservative camshaft GM put in the car. So what kind of headers, camshaft, and intake should I put in her. Also the car weighs more than it should so what can I do about the body roll when going through sharper turns? The shifts seem too long and at times I have to really muscle the shifts, would a short shifter solve this? I also want a loud deep sounding exhaust any thoughts on that? Thanks.

What can i do to get good HP and Torque out of a 406 sbc in an 84 Chevy Truck? I have an 84 Chevy K20 LWB with a 4' lift and 35' tires. I want a little bit of both worlds with HP and Torque. Need some help here on a motor and trans swap with my 1957 Chevy 210/Bel Air?? I'm planning on swapping out the old 235 straight six and Powerglide that's in my car, and putting in a 350 and a TH 350 or a TH 400 (depending on what my buddy has at his trans shop ready to go). I just have a couple of dumb questions. Does anyone know where I can find the motor mount adapter kits for the 350? The old 235 had the mount directly under the motor on the crossmember, and the 350 has the mounts on the sides. I've looked on Jegs, Summit, and GM performance parts, and can't find anything remotely close. I'm just not sure if I'm not looking in the right places, or where else to check. I don't really care if it's a weld in style or not, I just need one. Also, has anyone heard of a replacement trans crossmember that is a direct bolt in for the original, but is set up to accept the TH350/400? Another friend of mine mentioned something about it, but I can't seem to find anything about that either. Thanks very much in advance!!

1995 Holden/GM 304 efi V8 American equivilant? Im in Australia and I own a Holden (subsidiary of GM) commodore with a 304 fuel injected V8, its a 1995 model but i know the same motor was used from 1990 - 1998. I assume it is some sort of Chevy block. Now i am trying to do some work on the heads and i am not getting a great selection of performance parts here in aus that are reasonably priced. So i would like to know what is the American GM equivalent motor(if it exists at all) and what cars did it come in. Hopefully then i can find a larger selection of parts to chose from. Thanks. Thanks for your answer, its a 304 not a 305. I would say its a different setup to the aussie v8 variant. The heads actually had a very good reputation for being extremely hardy and reliable, they were cast iron though. The inlet manifold is cast alloy and has long runners. It is very torquey down low but they suffered as such high in the rev ranges.

GM 2.2 Liter Intake manifold? i own a 2000 pontiac sunfire with the 2.2 liter OHV engine. and i'm adding some performance parts to it. Can anyone tell me where i can get an intake manifold for it?
GM 3800 engine question? I have a 1999 chevy camaro. It has a 3.8l V6 engine in it. I couldnt find anyone to do the ls1 swap for me so I decided to get all the hp and torque that I could from my V6. But, how much power can this engine handle before it blows. I plan on getting dual exhuast, cold air intake, headers, pulleys, and a tuner chip. Possibally a camshaft. But, I also read that the more performance parts you add the an engine the shorter the life. So how much hp and torque do you think that this engine can handle? 350hp? or less and im prolly getting new gears cause mine are wearing. 3.73 probably but idk which ones would get me more torque so im still lookin for those
Is the General Motors Performance cat-back exhaust system made of T-304 stainless steal? I've talk to a few people who own this system and they say that the words stainless steal are not printed anywhere on the system, I'm sure this does not mean anything but I just want to make sure. GM claims on there website that the system is made of T-304 stainless steaI so I did a little research. I called a company I found on the net who sells genuine GM parts and asked them if they knew. I was told that it was NOT stainless and that was why the price was a lot lower than some of the other systems they sell. Is it possible that GM is doing some false advertising, or is this system really stainless?
Are mechanics obligated to provide receipts for parts upon request? The engine was replaced on my 1985 Chevy c10 (305ci), which is registered in california, and the work was done in illinois, and have reason to believe that $2500 for a remanufactured 350 and $855 for a carb (the only one in the country that matches the motor and meets california emissions requirements, the mechanic said to my face), were inflated, since the link below prices a BRAND NEW 350 and matching carb, from GM, for less than $2500. My grandfather living in california paid for it as a surprise over the last 2 months, but when i got the truck back and looked at the invoice, which also does not indicate what size motor was put in, or what kind of carb, just the prices, something felt very off and want to know if i have any recourse, as this was all done sight unseen to my grandfather, who only volunteered to pay the bill after my mom told him the truck was taken to the mechanics because there was an engine knock, potentially a thrown rod. this is also after quoting $1000-1300 to me for the engine as he was towing it away to begin with. http://www.jegs.com/p/GM-Performance/GM-Goodwrench-1970-85-350-Engine-Packages/752506/10002/-1

Are platinum spark plugs a must in GM 3.4L V6 engines? I have a '97 Chevy Venture. The local parts stores tell me that these motors were designed to run with platinum plugs, and not with standard copper plugs. Anyone know about these plugs, or use standard plugs in this motor? How much of a difference in performance would there be using standard plugs? I prefer to get OEM AC plugs but I don't want to spend 3X the amount if I don't really have to. A few points to clarify... it calls for the AC Delco Platinum plugs ($6 each). Those are listed as OEM. I want to find out if using a standard AC plug ($2 each) will give me about the same performance. I'm specifically looking for feedback from those who may have used a standard plug when OEM calls for platinum...especially this motor. Whether I get platinum or not I would buy AC.
I need help with an engine swap? I have a 97 camaro LT1 350 complete engine, I blew the head gaskets and have been told that even after I fix the head gaskets the motor really never will run like it used to first is that true? Second I have a 400 small block and was curious if all the parts would transfer over from that 350 to the 400, like the fuel injection the manifold, basicly everything. The only thing that looks like wont transfer over would be the water pump ( the LT1 is mechanicly driven) and than the cap and rotor is set up differently, if anyone could help me with this or you know of a website where I could buy a stock 350 LT1 please let me know, i've looked at gm performance.com and didnt see anything and all the junk yards around here only have v6 camaros and on the occasion you find a v8 its ripped apart within the first hour of being there and has no motor.

3300 and 3800 similarities? i have heard that the gm 3300 v6 and the 3800v6 share the exact same block and heads, is this true? are there any more interchangeable parts? any parts or performance parts for a 3800 that would work on a 3300? because i know they are both 90 degree v6's that are based off each other. professional help preferred please, no guess work. thank you!
Why some of Saleen vehicles(S281 and S302) are NOT mustangs? For some of you who don't really know Saleen, Saleen is to Ford as RUF is to Porsche. Saleen is a independent company and is not owned by Ford. People look at the outside and (based on it's appearance) automatically say "Its a Ford Mustang". However, the only thing the Saleen cars themselves has in common with the Ford Mustang is cosmetic parts. Underneath that cosmetic façade is All Saleen performance parts. There are enough changes made by Saleen to merit the cars as it's own creation. Besides most people obviously dont understand the legal system and who has registered rights to the corresponding vehicle. Ford has nothing to do with the Saleens(such as the s281e,s302e, and sms), nor does Ford own the rights to the cars. The cars themselves may have started life as a Ford Mustang, however once Saleen is done replacing the vehicles OE mechanical and cosmetic parts, there is very little of Ford (if any) left in the car. The Saleens is more than just a copycat Tuner version of the Mustang. Saleen itself is subject to the exact same federal regulations governing automotive design as GM, Chrysler LLC, Ford and various other manufactures. So as I said earlier, its not a Mustang. The engines for the S281 Extreme and S302 Extreme are built in-house under the supervision of Saleen Chief Engineer Neil Hannermann and Engine Department Manager Bill Tally. keep in mind that the S-Series(S302 and S281)are not mustangs, these cars did start life as mustangs but when Saleen gets a hold of these vehicles they replace ALL of Fords OE mechanical and cosmetic parts. The life of the S-Series begins, like all Saleen production cars, on the floor of the company's 131,000 square foot facility. The new cars proceeds down Saleen's assembly line. The car is completely gutted from nose to tail. ALL Ford parts are removed: Ford OE Transmission and Transmission Assembly Gone. Ford OE Suspension and Chassis, Shocks, Springs, Control Arms Gone. Ford OE Brakes and Brake Assembly Gone. Ford OE Wheels and Tires Gone. Ford OE Engine and Exhaust System Gone. Ford OE Air Feed System Gone. Ford OE Front Clip Gone. Ford OE Rear Clip and Spoiler Gone. Ford OE Hood Gone. Ford Factory Fit & Finish Gone. Even the factory Ford color is ... Gone. All Saleens are painted in colors developed by BASF. The Ford OE Computer Management System is snatched out and replaced by a Specially Programmed Saleen Computer System. Saleen calls it "PowerFlash". The engines for the S-Series are built in-house under the supervision of Saleen Chief Engineer Neil Hannermann and Engine Department Manager Bill Tally. PLUS, Ford's vin number is gone n replaced by Saleens own vin number.(regardless if the vehicle is still registeres as it's former self) Also, a FORD dealership cannot market, order, take delivery, sell, repair or perform schedule maintenance on a Saleen product unless Saleen "certifies" the dealership first. A Ford dealership that wants to market, sell, etc. a Saleen product must contact Saleen directly to begin the Certification process. It should be noted that Certification is not easy, it is very demanding for a dealership. Not all Ford dealerships get certified
2003 Buick Lesabre 3800 v6...How can I economically increase horsepower from 205 up to 240? Obviously, demand is low for mods on "grandpa's Buick" but it is a well built semi luxury vehicle. Just want to give it a little more muscle, reminiscent of that back-in-the-day GM performance we younger guys kinda missed out on. I want the power of a v8, from a large six cylinder that gets surprisingly good fuel mileage. I've read about performance programmers and chips, as well as cold air intakes and exhaust, but haven't been able to find many after market parts available. I've spent hours just looking for a programmer, as I'm thinking that would be the best choice. What can I do for under five hundred to start?
Which motors would best fit in my 88 IROC Camaro? I was thinking tonight if something ever happens to my motor & I have to choose between rebuilding it & just putting in a new GM crate motor which would be sensible to do. At 130,xxx miles it's ran very well. I have aftermarket performance parts & stuff in the car but I know eventually one day I might have to replace the motor. My car has the original 350 small block & from what I understand those type of motors have the right set up for big block motors or bigger small block applications. My question also includes not just which motors would fit but how much work is involved & how much of what is already in the engine bay would have to be replaced to work with the newer motor? So any real helpful info would be great for me hold onto for future purposes. Maybe I'll get lucky & hopefully my great 350 will run for another 100k miles before needing to be replaced. Either way it's good to have a back up plan. Also with those GM crate motors do they allow payment plans on those? I am well aware of the costs of those & most people don't have that kind of money up front, for anything in life. Info on that is helpful too. Thanks for answering!
Chevy/GM 305 cu. horsepower limits? What was the most horsepower or torque anyone has personally seen produced by a pre-eighties 305? I specify pre-eighties because I'm not sure if the mechanical parts of the engine has changed since the 70's, but I know that the simple feedback carb and CCC changed dramatically to the ECM, etc. in the eighties. Can equipping this old engine with a newer ECM config. be anywhere worth its price in potential engine performance increase?
Expert: GM HEI burning out ICMs? '84 full-size Chevy Blazer with 350 engine. Recent rebuild with stock parts except for Edlebrock intake. Stock carb and all emissions gear present - passes California emissions. Several months after the engine rebuild, it began dying. Issue did not exist before the rebuild. Seems to be after cold start on 60F or colder days. About seven minutes after start, I'll need to accelerate from a light, and go to WOT. There is no acceleration, and the engine "falls over" and dies. Afterwards, it'll crank, but won't restart. Gas is pumping through, and can be smelled at the tailpipe. After sitting for 15 minutes, it'll start, and then runs great - after one of these events, I get the best performance I can expect from this engine! I think it's the ICM because at one point it was dying on me regularly, like every second day. I replaced the ICM, and the issue went away for two months. This cycle has repeated. What I've replaced: Cap Coil Rotor (twice) Sparkplug wires (twice) ICM (7 times) What is wrong, and how do I fix it?
Would selling the soon-coming GMH VE Commodore as a re-baged Chev improve sales? The new VE can easily be enginered and changed for left-hand drive. Prototype cars look great so it wont be any surprise the car will look amazing. The Commodore is much loved over here in Australia, and even the current VZ model(most of its parts from the 1997 VT) is alot better than the shit GM makes in the US. It could be built over in the States, simply re-baged. Pontiac could sell the same car after a redesiging the griil, lights and interior for itself. HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) is a high performance arm of Holden and could be named SPV (Street Performance Vehicles) by Chev. These cars could be buitl in Australia and imported into the US. $1 Billion had gone into the development of this new car, and would be great to see GM USA having some worthy product on sale.
Power Steering Pump bracket? I have an 84 Suburban with the GM 6.2 Diesel engine. My power steering pump bracket is a 2 piece bracket that mounts to the front as well as on the rear of the power steering pump. Both pieces have broken in half, leaving the pump hanging, and causing a loss of power brakes and decreased power steering, as well as decreased performance from the AC compressor. I have called EVERY salvage yard in town, and they have nothing, I have called the dealer, and they have dicontineues the brackets I need. I know it is an option to weld them back together, but I would honestly prefer to replace with new ones. Does anyone know os some good 80's GM vehicles parts sites or any ideas on how to get ahold of these brackets I need. Thanks in advance for your help.
white smoke and burning out of tailpipe on an GM ecotec 2.2? Have an 03 cavilier with the ecotec motor. During startup, and only during startup, white smoke and a burnt smell will come out the exhaust. I dont notice any performance issue, but when going through the gears (5-speed manual), if the revs drop below 2000 rpm and i push the gas pedal more than half way, i feel a small hesitation. by now people in this part of the forum knows i am far from great when it comes to engines, but i suspect valve guides as a possible problems. if wrong, please correct me. it has only started a couple days ago. the smoke is a small puff, and you can only smell the burnt smell if you are behind the car. and the car has to be cold to do this
help me choose my career path. i aspire to be big some day, but im not sure if this will work? Basically i am a 3.5gpa student and a senior in a fairly good highschool in tucson. Iv always wanted to work in the automotive industry, such as helping design parts for performance cars such as bmw, or toyota. I have decided i want to either go to U of a in tucson because of their stellar mechanical engineering program, or go to school in houston because my parents live there, i want to be with my family you know. I would love to just go straight to an automotive school like in detroit, but all those schools are over east in Georgia, and Pennsylvania n what not. To sum it all up, im either going to houston, or staying in tucson. I was planning on going to the community college for 2 years because of their great automotive program here, it will help me get ASE certified. Then i was going to go to UofA for another 4 years to get my mechanical engineering degree, i was hoping with the entry level experience of automotive, but long term engineering experience, i could get a career with GM or something of that category. Do you think this would work? Please help me out here. Thanks. I was planning on going to rice, in houston, but i later found out how hard it is to get into that school. So i starting thinking of HU. Let me know what you think. to the second guy, i understand ase will not get me into the BIG auto industry, but it will get me a job as a part time mechanic while i go to school, and will certainly help me get a career in automotive with the mechanical engineering degree. it tells them, i know my stuff when it comes to car work. and as i stated earlier, i cannot consider schools not in houston or Tucson ie UofA. i understand im thinking too big with the gpa, but i can say this. Im willing to do what ever it takes to get my degree in mechanical engineering

As the title states, what can I do to get more horsepower from this stock 1987 GM V6/90* 4.3 with Rochester 220 TBI ..?? The only thing is that I live in California, so I also have to stay smog legal .!!. Mercruiser 5.7 350 engine backfire at low rpm or part throttle? I just put in a GM Goodwrench 350 performance engine. Upon start up and initial timing we discovered distributor weights were toast so I replaced with a new Mallory dual point with a new cap and rotor. Timing tested perfect to specs at all the rpm ranges. When I had it on water the engine backfires through carb ( mostly on a slow decell at mostly at around 1500 RPM. If I take to 3000 rpm it will run perfectly all day long. Below 2500 I will get intermentint backfire and at 1500 it will not stop backfiring. ??? I have looked at all suggestions. Thank You !!. Distributor does not have vbac advance. Engine is a complete GM long block. The real stumpper is part throttle..... I am thinking that maybe?? wires are bad ???? I am also going to check gap on the NEW ACDelco MR43T plugs.
Is this vehicle deserving of the title "The grandfather of the SUV"? Many people argue that the Military Jeep, ‘40s Land Rover, or the ‘60s Ford Bronco was the forerunner of the modern-day Sport Utility Vehicle. While all these vehicles (And some I may have not mentioned) more than qualify for such a title, many people tend to forget about the (1973-1991) Chevrolet / GMC Suburban. The GM manufactured Suburban, for its time period was one the most advanced vehicles of its kind. It paved the way for the modern-day SUV as far as typical SUV like styling, with 4 doors, third row seating, part-time four wheel drive, and a selection of V8 engines (Some of the older Suburbans even came with rear air-conditioning), SUV off-road performance and the ability to carry passengers and cargo. The early 70s early 90s Suburban could carry up to 10 passengers if needed. Do you think the Suburban deserves the title of “The grandfather of the SUV”?
Mustang vs. Camaro/firebird? Why do people consistantly compare the mustang & camaro/firebird? I am a very open-minded individual when it comes to cars and trucks. When it comes to these cars, I realize that they are in the same categoy, however when it comes to power and performance you are comparing apples to oranges. How is it possible to compare a 4.6 liter 281 cubic inch engine to a 5.7 liter 350 cubic inch corvette generation engine? Not to mention the many fiberglass body parts on the GM that under-weighs the mustang. I read an answer earlier where someone said the closest a mustang ever came to a camaro was the supercharged mustang cobra. The person then went on to say that it isn't fair and if they were to supercharge the camaro, it would be sick. First of all, there is an 80 cubic inc defecit between the two. The reason the Cobra hung with the GM was because the supercharger made up in cubic inches that it was lacking. In that case the comparison was more apples to apples.
Will Buick ever shake its "old man car" rep, they now look like they want to be a US equivalent to Lexus? Anyone see that Buick crossover ad, with the cliche art house director prancing around acting like a pretentious d-bag while they tried to film a commercial and make the car look cool? It sure didn't win me over any bit towards wanting a Buick. Its a shame Buick won't go back to its two part luxe/performance reputation like it had as recent as the 80's what with the Regal and Grand National/GNX models. My grandma had a mid 80s Regal and it was both plush and sporty. If they stuck to this they wouldn't have any trouble selling cars. Now they seem to be dead set on being a ersatz domestic Lexus equivalent, and their recent offerings are just slightly more chromed up variants of the generic GM front wheel drive econo-sleds General Motors seems to be convinced are still the 'ihhhhsh with the car buying public. Do they not have focus groups of motorists? Is nobody there watching market trends? No I am down for the old school pimp-ride tricked out Buick, I am talking about modern Buicks, like the Lucerne and that weirdo crossover thing. My grandma had a sick Regal coupe back in the 80s it had a white leather roof and she had it in this mint green paint on white leather seats that felt more comfortable than furniture. Buicks like that are more fresh than new Buicks in my opinion. Cheap Horsepower/Torque tips? Ok i have a 1972 El Camino and i am just trying to find out if there are any parts/tips for better performance for a reasonable price, meaning no i will not change to EFI, too expensive. anyway this is what i have -Gm crate 350/290Hp engine w/ 326 Ft/lbs of torque -Full length flowtech headers -quick time performance electronic cutoffs -Flex-a-lite electric fans -full 2 3/4 inch exhaust with i believe 44 series flowmasters -Holley electric fuel pump -edelbrock RPM dual plane manifold -one inch carb spacer (for some more low end torque) -Pertronix Distributor -MSD cap, rotor and wires -Holley 670 CFM street avenger carb -fram air hog air filter because i have never put her on the dyno i am assuming i am in the range of 310 HP and 350 ft/lbs. is there anything else for some more power that is reasonably cheap? i was looking at comp cam's thumpr cam. is it possible to put in a cam without removing the engine. like taking out the grille and radiator?
turbo kit on a 3.8L v6? My car is a 2000 Chevy Camaro with a 3.8L v6. I have no engine or performance mods. I want to add a turbo that, combined with other parts that I don't know of, can produce well over 300 horsepower. Does anyone know all the performance mods necessary to make a reliable and efficient TURBO 3800. 1.What parts do I need? 2.What order do I install them so I can test each mod individually? 3.Total cost approx. 4.Any other mods you would consider? 4.Do you have experience with the GM 3800 series 3.8L v6? My camaro is worth about 2 grand because the passenger door is damaged and nearly every piece of the piece of **** interior needs replaced. lol As far as i'm concerned it looks and runs good, but not to a potential buyer looking for a decent interior. It would never sell, and friggen ay if I can make it faster w/out paying more for insurance and gas thats the way I wanna go.
Tesla Model S Versus Chevy Volt? I don't know about you, but Tesla's 5 seater has it all over the Volt. Here's why: 1) It is completely electric with a 300 mile range. 2) The fueling cost breaks down to one cent per mile compared to seven cents per mile for the Volt. 3) Zero emissions because it burns no gasoline. 4) Fewer moving parts, less maintenance because it doesn't have a gasoline engine. 5) Though no performance specs are available, I find it hard to believe that the Volt will best the Tesla's 5.9 sec 0-60 mark. 6) The 5 seat Model S is roomier with more storage space. To be fair, GM has Tesla beat in the area of having a proven track record of building cars and backing warranties. Also, even though I think the Tesla is superior, if you compare the Volt to the current Hybrids on the market, it is vastly superior and appears to be quite impressive for a big automaker who has been reluctant to pursue electric technology. What do you think? Volt or Tesla?
building up a 350 engine, need help? here are the parts that were recommended for the build i like, i need to know if some can be substituted without losing horsepower its supposed to make 420-450 hp 350 engine block, bored .030 over holley 4 barrel 670cfm street avenger performance products dual plane intake manifold scat stroker crank ISky 270 split duration megacam 5.7" forged rods (bushed) Keith Black Hypereutetic Cast-aluminum pistons Childs & albert moly compression rings and 3 piece oil rings Hamburger 7qt oil pan Doug's Headers Summit GM HEI Ignition Open chamber 74-76 cc heads Holley stamped- aluminum roller rockers
How will my Camaro Perform? I have an 85 Camaro with frame supports its a pretty light car its got the F-Body frame. I have a crate 350 its only interior parts with an Edelbrock Dual plane performer intake manifold and the harmonic balancer it has 330 horsepower and 400 foot pounds of torque. I'm putting an aluminum hood scoop on top of the carb so I figure that should add about 20 horse. The engine has a high performance cam and I'm putting headers and probably an Edelbrock 750 4bbl carb. So the engine should have atleast around 350-360 horse and atleast around 415-420 foot pounds of torque when I'm done. I'm putting a Hurst Slap Shift in it since its an automatic, its the pistol grip quarter stick. The transmission that I'm putting on it is a GM TH 350, 375, or 400. I'm putting a 12 bolt posi-trac rear end in it with 3.73 gear ratios. This is exactly how I'm buildin my car how do you think it will perform in any or all aspects. How do you think it will compare to the 5.0 mustangs and the new mustangs. Will it get off the line and thats it? Or should it be able to have alot of bottom end and top end? Thanks, Joel D.
Poll for Ford fans only? (FOR FORD FANS) Do any of you fellow fans of Ford Motors approve of putting 5.0 liter Ford engines (or really any other Ford engine) and other Ford mechanical parts into cars of other brands (mainly meaning foreign vehicles)? I am a huge fan of Ford, and I wouldn't willingly drive a GM product, or a Japanese vehicle, for fun, anyway; but I do think some of those Japanese imports look pretty cool (examples: Mitsubishi Eclipse, Nissan Skyline GT-R, Toyota Supra, etc.), but they all lack the power and other performances found in Ford vehicles. I wouldn't even consider swaping out the mehcanicals in a Jap for good Ford parts and driving it around unless fellow Ford fans aproved, I'm just the kind of person to take approval from those of my kind before doing something along those lines. If I were to do an "opperation" like this on a Jap, it would have to be a sporty vehicle, and I would definately remove the badges to save confusion or personal embarasment. When people would see the car without badges, they'd go without knowing or ask, and I would tell them what powers it, but again, not without Ford fans' approval. What I was thinking was like 5.0 H.O., or maybe an Edelbrock crate engine (their new 347 C.I.D. Ford small block [EFI verison, highest available HP]), a 6-speed Ford GT tranny, Mustang Fox Body rear diff. with detroit locker setup added, twin Vortech V-24 centrifugal blowers (32 psi each), veilside body kit, GReddy intercooler, iron cylinder sleeves, K&N air filter, "Clevor" heads from Edelbrock (Cleveland heads to fit a Windsor), a Lunati 51014LUN street/strip camshaft, and at least 75 smaller mods to the overall vehicle (all undecided), and at least 65 other mods to the engine. So do any of you approve? Please give reasons, I would need plenty of feedback to pull through with it. uhh....... I'm not sure what the first answerer meant... oh well.
kobe a disappointment? i was reading one of the yahoo question and it asked if kobe was overrated? well wtf? he is? every gm would die to have kobe on his team but he is over rated? and then there was something saying that kobe was a disappointment in the nba playoffs? ugh....a loss to boston makes the whole playoff a disappointment? did you not see the other three series? and then they said that jordan was never a disappointment in the playoffs. JORDAN DID NOT WIN EVERY PLAYOFF SERIES. I believe jordan is better then kobe but kobe is not overrated. boston band wagon bitchez can be happy that boston won the championship and they did deserve it more then the lakers but stop hating on kobe because danny ainge would drop paul pierce for kobe if only the lakers were willing to part with taht trade. kobe is not the best ever but it is debatable. And then we have those wade fans who believes that wade is better then kobe. sigh....one good final appearance and what happened the year after that? injury? ok thats a good excuse? what happened this year o_O why arent they winning ? crappy team? good excuse....any more excuses? and then the lebron fans. yeah lebron is very talented no doubt. but to compare kobe to lebron is like comparing isiah thomas to wilt chamberlain, two whole different generation and two whole different play style. lebron is good and was built for basketball. he is naturally gifted but kobe is good because he works on every aspect of the game. he exploits every possible weakness his opponent has. lebron has simple moves that gets him to the rim. jump shots are at time questionable. if you take away lebrons drive what is he left with? that jumper that you would make you hold onto your money for dear life? lebron does make his team better then they really are but dont forget that Big Z was an all star way before lebron, so was wally, so was ben. paul pierce? not even gonna go their. one performance and we have everyone riding his ass. maybe he can get an acting career in hollywood when he retires.
