First-class not good enough for GM and Ford CEOS? We all know the delicate situation the "Big 3" automakers are in right now. Yet, GM and Ford executives who flew to Washington this week to plead Congress for a handout fly frequently (and their families too) in private jets! It appears even first-class is below them and the executives have said private jets are "non-negotiable" and part of the contract. Ford has had to close down 16 plants but the company still offers private jets to high-level executives. My question is about the family business. My grandfather and his brothers started a business in 1952 with each? having their own % of share in the business. My grandfather has two son. In life time my grandfather transferred some % of share from his on my fathers name. My father was introduced as Partner. After some yrs my GF died, so his share got transferred to his wife i.e my Gmother. Before retiring she also wrote on a seperate stamp paper, stating that, my late son's wife will have no rights to claim in the 23% share i.e my fathers share, she also mentioned reason "because the my late son had 25% share in the seperate business", this stamp paper was not signed in front of any witness,my Gmother's thumb stamp was taken and only a lawyer had signed and notary was also done.In 2003 my GM got retired and on sametime she transferred her shares to my Father i.e 23%. On the other hand my Uncle i.e my fathers brother, who was the partner in some other business had 25% share in that business. In 1995 my uncle expired. His wife received the goodwill, royalty and compensation and Company was dissolve. that time his two sons were minor. There was no cash or cheque or anyother business related transacton between the two familys from first, except family relation. in 1998 there was a settlement done between my father and my late uncles wife, she got the share more than what she has to get in the property, the settlement was documented on a normal paper with my aunty and my father's signature and 5 witness. After the settlemnt that doc. was made effective, the share in property which was in my fathers name went in her share and she got that property transferred to his sons name, when he got majored. In that settlemnt it was mentioned that my aunty will not have any right in my fathers shares i.e 23%. Both the business were not run under HUF law. Now i.e 2009 after 98 settlement they are asking share from my fathers share i.e 23% and challenging the settelled doc. My father was paying the income tax for his 23% from 2003 when my grandmother got retired. My father's firm was not registered only one partnership was registered. I came to know that there is some time limit, aftr which they cannot claim. but is it after the death or retiremnt of the partner. Can this be challenged in court, if yes who will win the case she or my father. there are some more questions, relating to it but i need the ans. for this. Regards.

My family is a Wreck... I need serious help...? wow. lets see where to start... family has never been financially stable, but my mom always made it look like we were the perfect family for the first 10 years of my life. people were jealous of our house and how clean it was, my mom always had dinner on the table, was mom first, nurse second, etc.... and my dad worked for delphi under GM, if you know about that you know how that has crashed right? mhmm... well basically we all have switched schools and moved in the same general area of ohio like 3 times in the past couple yeras, all rental houses untill the one we're in now. and both my parents job's suck. my dad is gone all day tuesday-friday from 5am-7pm. and my mom is gone constantly. shes a traveling nurse who cant schedule her patients jobs at all. but my mom... oh my mom.... lets see here. my moms mom, my gma, died a year 1/2 ago. and my mom admits to having bad grief issues and keeps saying shes gonna get help. but never tries to get it. ppl try to help her, but she never lets them, and blames us for never helping her, when she wont let us. shes out partying and crap when she claims shes at work, and her paycheck is getting less and less each week because she spends less and less time at work. shes lost like 3 jobs over the past year 1/2 for the same kinda reasons. time managment. missing too much work. not coming in on time. etc... im almost sure shes having an affair. my dad has left like twice, locked her out of the house, etc... and im getting sick and tired of her treating my dad like shit when my dad is the good guy. and here i am, 13 years old, 3 little brothers, i've been diagnosted with clinical depression last year in march when my gma died, because i was constantly taking care of one of my bros, and i was doing homeschooling, w/o anyone teaching me. i was teaching myself. not going very well. therefor i had to retake 7th grade. and i did a bunch of stuff, and here i am, this summer, again, parents got new jobs, and im watching my brothers, constantly tuesday-thursday whenever my dads gone, im in charge. because my mom is gone. and sometimes my dad takes extra overtime because we're soooo much in debt its insane... i know much more than i should at 14. its.. its just scaring me. my parents constantly fight. theres this guy charlie... my moms always with him. [reason i mention affair] and she wont admit to anything, of course, but its really pissing my dad off, therefor he drinks. he doesn't get abusive when he drinks or anything, it just worries me that hes spending his money on it instead of saving it for other stuff.... my brothers ask questions too... and so do grandparents.... and its just.... GM why are we lending them more money? If they are going to lay off why do they need more money? I thought the first big pile of OUR money should have helped they want more now? Why don't we rename them to "GM's money pit?" Why doesn't anybody understand that their are soooo many jobs being lost even at GM they think because we give them money to improve their cars (which by the way if they could have been improved should have been done long ago) that people are going to rush out and buy one of their cars? So....they screw up, the government piles them up with our hard earned money, to fix something nobody is going to buy anyway, they are loosing their jobs, and now they want more of our money? I cannot honestly say I know of one friend, family member that buys GM, gee I wonder why? I know some of you are going to say "It saves a lot of jobs". JANESVILLE, Wis. – In the early dawn, after another week building cars, Michael Hanley leaves his job in Kansas. He quickly zips into Missouri, then heads up a ribbon of highway past grain silos and grazing deer, across the frozen fields of Iowa, over the Mississippi River and into the rolling hills of Wisconsin. Finally, he pulls into his driveway — 530 miles later. It's one heck of a haul: more than 1,000 miles roundtrip, 16-plus hours of driving, every week. "I like to say I gave up an eight-minute commute for an eight-hour commute," he says wearily, running a hand though salt-and-pepper hair as he watches his two sons play basketball for the first time this season. After the aging General Motors plant where he worked for 23 years was idled about a year ago, Hanley faced a Hobson's choice: Stay with his family and search for an autoworker's salary ($28 an hour) in a county where more than 40 percent of its manufacturing jobs disappeared from 2006 to 2009. Or hang on to his GM paycheck and health insurance and follow the job, no matter where it leads. Want to trade in leased car for a newer Model... How to? We have a 2 door standard 2007 pontiac g5. We are expecting our first baby and it is not an ideal car for a family. I also cannot drive a standard. We want to trade in our car for a automatic 4 door car. Our car is leased, how do we go about doing this? What fees will we incur? Suggestions for buying a 4 door sedan? I'm getting ready to give my 150,000+ mile Accord to my son by summer and get a new 4 door sedan. I'm quite prejudiced (perhaps irrationally) against Ford thanks to my maintenance experience with my first car - a Maverick in the mid 70s, and Chrysler, after the disastrous transmission problems we had with a Grand Caravan some 5 years ago. We've had pretty good luck with a Corolla, a 626, an Accord, and a Sienna none of which had any significant problems before 125K miles. At my age, 0-60 times, chick-magnets, and such are irrelevant - good reliability, good mileage (over 25,000 a year), and good in winter (not off-road - just the few dozen snow days on main roads), are sufficient. Given the state of the car industry today, what should I be looking at for good deals, based on my criteria? I am familiar with the obvious - the Camrys, Accords, etc. eg. Anything in the GM family or others that may be attractive now?

My 2001 Chevy Malibu has been an unreliable car. Have you have bad luck with GM cars? This car infuriates me. Seems like the on board diagnostics system is always alerting me of something since the warranty expired. It only has 85,000 miles. The problems I have had have been numerous- electrical problems (fan not working on settings 1-4, A/C cutting out all the time even though the A/C is fully charged), bad exhaust valve, cheap chinese steel factory rotors rusted out by 2 years, oil pressure light going on even though I regulary change my oil, leak in the manifold which requires me to fill it up with coolant constantly, the cheap plastic armrest cracked during the first week!, there was a factory recall on the directional which crapped out four years ago, etc. Bah, this crap makes me never want to buy American again. My whole family has Hondas and they are so reliable. They never seem to have any problems.

T 97 Olds Cutlass - Bought as s two year old - interior hardware very low quality alternator went on trip 2002 Grand Prix -Bought Brand New Electronically a disaster - which the dealer says are side effects of daytime running lamps. Headlights flickered on and off as if dimming whenever I coasted - and didn't accelerate . Dealer wouldnt make good on it even under warrantee. Windshield would not wipe clean with wipers if goin over 50 mph - (from aerodynamics?) I am giving Chuck Norris another chance at the Money in the Bank Match, as he faces the very mystery man who hit him with a chair last week. Also, Ray Lewis & Fat Albert will face T.O. & Eduardo. And for the main event, CUD Champ Courage & Kool Aid Man will face Chewbacca & Billy. Maybe they never thought this would happen and never took action but foreign cars became important to Americans because they were innovative and dependable and GM vehicles were not. I. Introduction: General Motors was founded in September of 1909. January 28th, 2010 almost 101 years later GM ceased to exist. GM has produced some of the most beloved vehicles in the nation. How did General Motors go from a company that embodied American success to one of the largest corporate failures in American history? The research I did well tell us why GM crashed. I have worked for the same company for the last 4 years..it is a sales job and it has it's ups and downs? but I have worked my way up to management within the the first 4 mos @ the company. We had a whole new group of GM's and sales floor mngres come in about a yr ago and it has been nothing but STRESS ever since. I am not thin skinned trust me, I wouldn't have lasted 2 mos @ this job if I was.We have lost alot of good people since they have come..long term "vets" that have been with the company longer than me. Over the past 6-8 mos I have had so much stress that my attendance has become an issue. I am not worried about losing my job because I am protected through FMLA(family medical leave act) I was diagnosed with a chronic condition last yr most likely brought on by stress. I am on medication for hypertension,severe anxiety, ibs,etc..I'm sick of it..I used to look forward to going to my job but know I absolutely dread it ..I end up crying before the end of shift or throwing up ..we have comments frm upper mngmt threatening our jobs all the time.. How Do I Get Into Racing Professionally? I'm 15 right now and I'm really getting into racing and the technical aspect of it, mainly because I've always grown up around cars. My family has been racing for many years and cars became a big part of the family when my Papa was drafted by the Edmonton Eskimo's in the fifties and he turned it down because GM wanted him to work for them. He took the job bought cars along the way I'm not sure when he started racing as a family tradition but my Mom was the first born then came my uncles they all race, my family has raced vintage historic Lotus 49's, Mini Coopers, Porsche's. Now my Uncle races Formula Ford, and him and my other uncle two months ago raced in the Vintage Grand Prix. I know I should ask them but when I'm done high school I will ask them how to race vintage, but right now I'm wondering how someone my age can earn money to buy a race kart and race locally. I'm born into money but I would rather earn the money my self instead of ask for it like I usually do, I know how to race (braking, taking corners ect.) It is all out of my control and I can’t do anything about it… even though I can see the problems and corruption with my eyes closed. I do not know where to start on what all makes me mad. Here are some examples of issues that are making me sick to my stomach with worry and anger. - AN UNFAIR GOVERNMENT. My dad has a degree for engineering (Pitt University 4 yr degree). He is a manager at a steel / copper tubing plant. My neighbors were laid off half the year (making 90 percent of their regular pay) with no degree and making more than him. They worked for GMs union. Now they are crying about losing a job that they did not deserve in the first place. If GM paid their employees that much for doing nothing half a year they deserved to go under. Both of my neighbors lived like kids with rich parents. I am talking always on vacation, always buying new cars, and second houses. My dad had 4 kids, and saved almost every penny. He was never laid off and was constantly stressed with big decisions. No one is bailing out my dad's company which is going under... Will you buy an American made vehicle? ? We always were diehard GM loyal customers until 3 years ago when I got fed up with bad service and a faulty vehicle. We were the first in the families to switch to Toyota. Every Vehicle (trucks and cars) from Pontiac and Chevy gave us multiple electronic problems as well. I want to support local business but I didn't like the headaches and difficulty in repairs even under warrantees. Our lease is up with Toyota this coming year and I don't know what to do. I feel bad not buying from a troubled American Factory but don't want to risk an unwarranteed purchase from one going bankrupt. I would consider Ford. Never Chysler though.

Is this Libel, or a privacy issue or neither? A short time ago I was let go from my job as the GM or a restaurant. The reasons for being terminated were 2 fold, but when the owner gave me a letter of referral it stated that, due to his reduced travel obligations that he is taking over the GM position to ensure a salary for he and his family"..I am paraphrasing . that is not the problem. Yesterday a local weekly publication (the most popular one here) printed their restaurant review of that location. In that review it was stated that a server told the critic that I had been fired. As you read the review it is the first topic discussed. I just can not believe that a popular new paper, and online version, would use my name and disclose such a private matter. In fact I found out when a respected restaurant owner, and friend of mine, sent me a text asking if it was true. Its one of the most popular sections in this popular newspaper and I am very concerned about the lingering affects this will have in my pursuit for a new position. NOT to mention it is VERY embarrassing and humiliating. Is this a legal issue? Or am I just faced with the public embarrassment and labeling of this article?

Rookie contracts? what you think? Now this is one pressing issues in the NFL right now. If you know me, i think the system is great the way it is and this is why. 1. The General Manger decides; I hope everybody know that the GM do not have to sign or even draft any of the rookies coming out of college. The GM and coaches and owners choices to sign every player they have on the team and they choice to pay them a curtain amount. The NFL do not force any team to pay anybody; so really this is not a NFL issue; this is a team by team issue. GM are "trained" and "educated" in economic and evaluation of talent therefore if they over pay a player coming out of college the blame goes to the personal guys not the NFL. Trust me we do not want the NFL telling GM what they should be paying players. 2. Buses are all over. People say that giving unproven rookies so much money it's a waste of money. well if you ask me; no body playing a sport should get play even one million when cops in new york city can barely feed their families. But that is a whole other thing. There is another football point i am trying to make here. Eli Manning last year got a big contract. Big Ben last year also got a big contract. Now i personally don't feel that neither of those guy deserve those type of pay when there are other guys in the NFL that's playing better aka Drew B; and not getting as much money as them. The best example i can give you if you are still not getting my point is that of the redskin 100 million dollar man. Now i dont even anyone believe he lived up to that money. You can say that they work for that money and they played in the pros to earn that money. What to do when your job is compromised by friendship? My boss is technically my friend. We worked together for almost five years in a restaurant. He was a manager and I was soon one after a couple of years. He was eventually forced to leave due to "creative differences" with the General Manager, and now he is his own GM at his very own restaurant. He offered me a job there and I took it. I have been at this job for about three months now. I was promoted to Assistant Manager in my first month because of my previous experience. Now I am training to be GM because he is becoming District Manager and will be looking after all the stores at the end of December. We're both very stressed. He is having girlfriend issues and has a baby due in July along with working 70 hours+ a week. I'm having a hard time adjusting to training to GM because I have social anxiety, which he is unaware of because I have grown comfortable with him after working together for so long (along with friends, my horse, and working 60+hours a week myself). He was having a 'Poker Party' this weekend. Which is basically the group coming over for drinks and cards. I did attend once and enjoyed myself. This week I had booked off Saturday because Friday I had committed too a cancer funding event that would last from 7pm-7am (no sleep). I texted him to let him know I was very tired and asked what time the game was at. He said 10:30pm and I texted back saying I probably wasn't going to go because I was so exhausted. He quickly texted back "Fine. Come in tomorrow at 2 then." Which drove me absolutely nuts. I hadn't been out to see my horse all week because I had to cover him so he could spend time with his family. I asked if I could come in a bit later on Sunday because I wanted to hit the barn before work. I texted back "We agreed four." To which I got "See you at 2 tomorrow or don't bother coming in." Now I heard he canceled the poker game. I know I may have hurt his feelings and disappointed him by not coming, but now I think he's putting my job in jeopardy. I'm a bit nervous to go to work tomorrow because I'm sure I'll be getting the cold shoulder which I don't need right now because the owner is flying down on Tuesday to evaluate the restaurant. What can I do to fix this? Is this even fair? I think he's being immature. I don't know how to tell him it's nothing personal without him blowing up on me. What would you guys do? Should I just quit and find a new job while I still can? I really need this job. I could be making enough money to support myself once I become GM. The poker game was going to be about 12 of us all from work. In his defence, it is thunderstorming out to the point where a few places have lost power. But he lives only a two minute drive from the restaurant so I don't see why they wouldn't drive there after work.

Im working out now and dieting. Am I on the right track? I'm 31 years old, 6'1" and I weigh 220 with 31% body fat (Its been a while). I decided to get in shape so I started working out a few weeks ago and I changed my diet. I drink a 50gm protein shake first thing in the morning(7am) then about a half hour later I take a ripped fuel 5x and I eat 1/2 cup of oatmeal. I eat some type of fruit or veggie for a snack around 9:30 am then for lunch I eat a 4oz boneless skinless chicken breast 1/2 cup brown rice and 1/2 cup of green beans. At 3 pm I drink another 50 gm protein shake. Around 5:30 is dinnertime and eat what the family eats just in a more moderate proportion than before then I take a ripped fuel shortly after. My workout routine consists of arms back and chest 3 times a week abs tuesday and thursday and mostly cardio on the weekend. My goal for now is to loose some fat and get more toned muscle. After I get in better shape then I want to hit the gym harder and lift heavier weight with less reps for more bulk. I am by no means a fitness expert but I could use some advice. I want to bulk up but not until I lose some fat and get a little leaner and stronger so I dont hurt myself with heavier weights ( plus I know I will be happier losing fat and watching my weight go down first then watching it go up again when I weight train for bulk rather than seeing little difference bulking up right away). I would appreciate any advice though

Is there help for the parent portion of a FAFSA student loan? A lot has happened in my family since I started college. The situation our economy is in now has been a reality for my family for a while. Mainly because my dad up until last summer had been working at GM for 32 years. He had the option to retire with a small buyout or be assigned a new job and half his pay. Along with this our health-care has changed quite a bit. Last year we were allowed 5 doctor visits the entire year for a family of 4..... This year our insurance no longer covers doctors visits and we have a $400 deductible so basically I can't go to the doctor unless I'm dying. So now I have a knee that I cannot stand straight on without pain, acid reflux that I've had constantly for almost 10 years, and a mole that is changing and I'm SOL. After this semester of college I will have one more in the fall before I graduate. My sister is in the last semester of a 5 year nursing program too. At this moment we have just under $100,000 in loan debt between the two of us. Basically the loans my parents took out are getting ridiculous. The monthly payment is about $740, and that doesn't include the $800 in interest that ac-cured this year. I am already a full time student (13 hrs) with two jobs (i have a campus job 8 - 12 hrs a week, and an internship/part-time job on nights for 20-25 hrs). Right now I make just enough to get by on (not enough to eat right) in combination with the small my fiancee makes working at her daycare (she is in her first transfer year of an education degree and is in a worse off financial situation than we are, I can only hope she will be able to finish school). Basically me and my sister are going to have to work more now so I will be a full-time student and employee. The next problem is that my dad is trying to find a job at 60, but nobody will hire him. My mom worked for Sprint for 35 years, and now works at their local phone split off Embarq. They were recently bought by another company and my dad says she has been quiet a lot lately and telling him he needs to find a job. Basically she might be losing her job too. The house they are in needs a lot of work and that is what my dad has been TRYING to do. We have an old RV they may live in if they have to but that is a last resort obviously. Right now school is the last thing on my mind. I'm constantly thinking about money and how I'm going to be in debt until I retire, how I'm going to be able to pay for everything, my loans, my parent's loans, all on a job around $30,000 (if that and even If I can get a job) after I graduate. I don't know what to do. I'm stressed, depressed for sure, and I've never seen my parents like this. Neither of my parents went to college and had been at the same job all their lives busting their ass just for me and my sis to go to school and it's all turning around and biting them in the ass. It makes me wish I had never gone to school. I would be so much happier just working and living and not worrying about huge amounts of debt. Another great thing is that GM discontinued scholarships to employee dependents to cut costs (they have their mind in the right direction, give up on the future). We relied on these scholarships for books. I can't get any scholarships because my parents combined were always just under that $100,000 mark but it never took into account my dad was working 60 hours a week for two years and he developed sleep apnea. I just have lost all hope of a happy life. I'm set out to be a peasant just like my parents were, with nobody giving a damn. I hate all these college students who take everything they have for granted, never knowing the hardships people go through. This is what our land of opportunity offers us, a lifetime of debt and taxes. It would be such a relief to just kill myself and not have to live every day as a struggle. My relationship with my fiancee is starting to dwindle because I'm so depressed and can't remember what love felt like. We hardly see eachother, I never see my friends, I have a POS car that doesn't run half the time....... What's the point of life if you can't enjoy it. Does nobody see the rest of the world and what really happens or are they all really that ignorant and selfish? Sorry about this, but does anyone know if there is any help out there?

2 questions here? we all know GMs tend to make bad decisions at some point in their careers (isiah thomas giving jerome james 40 mil, jeffries 30 mil) and there are a lot more overpaid players than them..lafrentz isnt worth 10 mil a year... my first question is what do you think was the worst move by a GM say from the year 2000..whether it may be way overpaying a free agent or just a horrible trade on the flipside..there has also been a few far out requests by players (sprewell saying he cant feed his family on 8 mil a year..which cost him his NBA career, Bonzi Wells turning down 45mil/5 years to end up with the veterans minimum and more recently Varejao losing about half of what the Cavs were willing to offer in the first place) 2nd question is what was the worst move by a player with regards to contracts..(like turning down a huge/reasonable contract for something far less or being left without a job)

Please help with unethical behavior between Management and Human Resources? I am employed at a resort and here's my situation. We have a part time HR manager that is only at the resort one day a week. Due to budget issues, etc they can't have a full time HR manager. First, is that legal to not have an HR person available at all times? Second, the GM has previously given the current HR manager comp rooms/suites for her and her family. I view this as very unethical. I obviously can't go to the GM with this behavior or to HR. Would it be proper to go to our Corporate HR?

2 is a company, 3 is a crowd. The one I love or the one who loves me? There are 2 guys, A and B. A is my boyfriend who I just met 6 months ago. B is a friend I've know for 3 years. I was with A once. He was a very nice guy and easy available for me for the first 3 months and then with his business (as you know how it is now) and family, he couldn't make enough time for me. I tried to understand but NO CALL NO SHOW at all was the way too much for me to take. I broke up with him. Then, I got to talk to B after 2 years we didn't keep in touch. I was vulnerable. He told me his feeling to me remains the same as from the first day he met me. He never wanted to say it because we all were not available. I liked him too, can't deny. And never stopped liking him either. We talked and never able to define our status. But for sure, we were not bf/gf. Also, I still kept in touch with my ex via e-mail and we talked more when I got a girl who could help be his house maid. Later on, my ex called me (after weeks he never did) and said he had something he needed to talk. He kept beating around the bush and the bottom line was he wanted me back and couldn't pretend like he was ok without me anymore. And more suprisingly, he wanted me to move in with him (which in my culture means we have to get engaged). I was surprised and happy at the same time. Then, the same night, I tried to figure out the way to tell B about this. I knew it wouldn't hurt him but it wouldn't make him feel happy for me either. While I was leading us to this conversation, as if he knew what happened to me, he offered the same deal my ex did. But what different was he wanted to get his things together first and asked me to wait for 6 months. However, he said I can do whatever I want within this 6 months period. But he would like me to consider him when that his time comes. My jaw dropped and then I didn't know what to say. Now. I am now with A again. But after that talk, he never again talked about the moving in. He's still busy at work even tho he already got help at home (by the girl I got for him). GM Discount for family vs friends? Is there a significant difference in the price of a GM vehicle when using the GM discount for friends as opposed to the GM family discount. My uncle works for GM, so I am actually not covered as a family member. So, I was thinking of having my father put the car in his name and he could buy it under the Family discount. Within the GM family, do the mechanics in the various brands not all receive basically the same training? I bought a pre-owned Chevy from a Saturn dealership. The selling dealer was to repair a few issues under their own bumper to bumper warranty. I made an appointment with their service department, and dropped off the car today. Two hours later, the Saturn dealer calls me to say if they fix the issues, they’ll void my Chevrolet warranty (which I didn’t even know I had until today) so I have to take it to a Chevy dealer. I’m just a little bit irritated no one could bring this to my attention before I left home at 6 am (instead of 7:30) to drop this car off this morning! My brother used to be an Oldsmobile mechanic, and he was more than capable of using that same training to work on the various Chevys and GMCs in our family. Why doesn’t GM allow one GM brand to work on another’s car? It’s an ’06 Malibu Maxx, but I also have an ’07 Impala. If the Impala needed service here, I’d be even more pissed that Saturn can’t service the same car (Aura) with a different logo on it.

I get the family GM discount, but the dealer wants to give me a tiny chunk off the MSRP. (like $2500 off a $30,000 car) I thought I could wheel and deal and get that amount off anyway! I then found I got a GM discount through my grandfathet. The dealer said the discount is was 9% off MSRP - - $3100. Shouldn't I be able to take the invoice price that the dealer already offered me and get 9% off of that? Or is the discount really only a set price they will sell the car at? I'm looking to buy a car (but it has to be a GM). Any suggestions? I know a lot of people don't like GM, but I'm looking for a car... and it more or less "has" to be a GM because I have family that works for a GM dealership... and I want to (1) Get a good deal (2) Not hurt anyone's feelings. I've been looking around, and both the Pontiac Vibe and the Chevrolet Aveo (hatchback) look nice to me. They have good gas mileage (which is important) and from what I understand they're pretty spacious and flexible for their size. I'm aware that the Vibe is essentially a Toyota and the Aveo is a Daewoo. So, my question is... is the Vibe worth the extra money? Or is the Aveo almost as good? Are there any other GM cars that you would recommend over these two? I'd like to stay in the $15,000 range (tops) and, like I said before, good gas mileage and a spacious interior are important to me.

Why don't people realize that GM became the government, before Obama took it over? I love these people that say the Government is going to destroy GM. Americans are so ridiculously dumb. The company was going out of business with its current business model. Without the government, it would've been finished and done. GM became the government. It ran Detroit and Michigan. Combined with Ford and Chrysler, all adopted the same strategies and tactics, which were "planned obsolescence," excessive marketing and manipulation of American mass transit. The unions basically ran the government alongside GM. They demanded obscene wages, and got it. They demanded better working conditions, which basically meant "Sleep all day and do nothing." Their workers got fat, spoiled, delusional and ignorant. The liberals encouraged their attitude, and conservatives really couldn't knock any sense into people. How the *beep* could GM get any worse with the US government in charge? Why does my dashboard hiss when I turn the A/C off? My assumption is that the environmental system is actuated by pneumatic tubes, rather than by electrical contacts. If so, why is this still the case? Every model of GM car my family has ever had, from 1975 to the 2004 Blazer I have now, has that hiss when I turn off the A/C (most of the time).
