Is Chrysler ever going to offer a better motor for the Wrangler Unlimited?

The 3.6 v6 in the Wrangler Unlimited is grossly underpowered. What is Chrysler planning on doing about this?

  1. That motor is actually the 'world' motor. meaning Diamler-Chrysler used that same motor is many platforms. Rumors are now that Chrysler has been saved from Diamler's wrath, you MAY see a Hemi in the Wranglers.
  2. there a lot of room forward of the v6 (long fan shroud) just right for the 5.7 or 6.1 hemi I hope, nothing official
  3. No they are not going to put a HEMI in it,it wouldn't pass the frontal crash test with a large motor. The engine is not that bad,I would add a cold air intake, exhaust and a power chip to give it more power. Not as easy as just slapping a HEMI in it,everything in the engine compartment would have to be moved.
  4. they never should have quit using the 4.0 inline 6 that amc designed and built as the replacement to the 4.2.the problem with the v-6 is lack of torque. the i-6 makes more torque and has a way better bottom end for rock crawling. it is a big mistake that chrysler needs to fix.
