What is a fun thing for families to do in Chicago and Detroit?
We are taking a car trip, two kids, 12 and 6 to Chicago first then to see family in Detroit. Looking for fun things to do in each place as well as in between.

- Get mugged! LOL! I jest. Chicago has the Field Museum, Sears Tower (which I highly recommend), Museum of Science and Technology (very hands on), and numerous art museums. The Detroit Museum of Art is actually pretty kid-friendly, and they have a great zoo. Both cities have baseball games as well.
- Greenfield Village ( cool old time village..)and Henry Ford Museum in Deerborn/Detriot... Detroit Zoo...Science Center... and Institute of Arts - they have things for kids too.. but lets not forget YOU want to have some fun times too. I think Boblo Island is still open.. its an amusment part... in CHicago - Lincon park zoo
- Having lived in Chicago my whole life, and gone to school around Detroit, I'd have to say to plan more stuff around your time in Chicago. For kids, you've got Navy Pier, Millenium Park, Sience & Industry, Shedd, Lincoln Park Zoo, check out all of these are on the lakefront! The only thing I could think of on your way/around Detroit, is maybe minor league baseball
