What do I do if I find out Chrysler has a vehicle part recall?

So my brother found out a few months ago because he is a mechanic that my 1998 Chrysler Cirrus has a lower ball joint that needs to be fixed. I found out until today that as of today that on October 2009, there was a recall for lower ball joints of my model. What do I do? Call Chrysler? Will they send me a check to reimburse me or what do they do?

  1. call dealer
  2. I've been a Chrysler Technician for a long time now and I have access to DealerConnect, the company's dealer website. I've searched and I cannot find any ball joint recall for your vehicle. Which is interesting because another user with a 98 Sebring posted a very similar question yesterday regarding a lower ball joint recall. i think there must be some bad information floating around out there because there is no ball joint recall for those cars from Chrysler. But you don't need to take my word for it. Please contact your nearest dealer with you VIN and current mileage and ask them to run a single VIN inquiry. It will tell you about ANY recalls on your vehicle as well as any warranty service it has ever received. Good info to know. Best of Luck!!!!!
  3. Check with a Chrysler Dealer first to see if it is so. They can type in your serial number and it will tell right away if it has been done. It is a very old recall and I doubt very much if they have any recall parts left or even have gone obsolete. You might get lucky. I have a 87 Dodge 150 and I was lucky enough to get a seat belt replacement a few years ago. Good Luck
